What to Expect when your Child get Cerebral Palsy

Many people with cerebral palsy do not have fully developed organs. If you get an infection while pregnant, be sure that doctor takes your concerns seriously. If your baby comes too early, the day the baby is born you are wracked with fear, anger and disbelief, or this wasn't what you had envisioned for the arrival day of your new baby, be careful with cerebral palsy syndrome. Most adults with cerebral palsy will experience premature ageing of their body organ systems by the time they reach 40 (such as arteries, veins, and the heart).

Most adults with cerebral palsy will experience post-impairment syndrome, which may include fatigue, muscle weakness, arthritis, and repetitive strain injury.  There are two factors that indicate potential danger during a prolonged labor, such as water broke and your doctor didn't make sure that you delivered within 24 hours, or baby got "stuck" in the birth canal with no oxygen supply. Some studies suggest that cesarean delivery may prevent medical conditions like cerebral palsy. All maternal infections during pregnancy can pose long-term health risks to your baby, one of them related with developing cerebral palsy.

Smoking during pregnancy is also a risk factor for premature birth. Maternal consumption of drugs and/or alcohol poisons your baby and seriously affects her nervous system, blood vessels, and internal organs.  Babies who survive being born prematurely and at low birth-weight are at risk of other serious health problems.

How to Deal With Cerebral Palsy

The challenges of living with a chronic condition such as cerebral palsy can cause stress and anxiety, which in turn can trigger depression. People with cerebral palsy use up to three times the energy required for walking than normal person. Adults with cerebral palsy should avoid activities that could further damage their organs, such as smoking, drinking an excessive amount of alcohol and eating a high-fat diet. Further physiotherapy and equipment can assist relieve some of these cerebral palsy symptom. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can be effective in helping people fight their depression and cope better with their condition.
